Description
Peter the Polluter was inspired by Siobhan’s son Peter who was a trash chucker when he was a little boy. Illustrator, Lori Desmond Oakes, wanted to do a children’s book about the importance of taking care of our planet as a tribute to her son, John, who has been environmentally aware and active since he was a little boy. Fallon Hogan and Oakes are neighbors and their boys both grew up on Pomphrey’s Pond. Sadly, the pond became very stagnant and polluted when the boys were both young, but the writer and illustrator joined forces with fellow neighbors to clean up the pond. Today, it is full of fish and thriving.
